Awasome Chuck Close Art

Kia ora bloggers. In Te Ngahere we have been doing Chuck close art. This art was really fun and interesting. First we got a square that had smaller squares and some of the smaller squares were gray and some were white. In the white squares you had to color it in with a light color and in the gray squares you had to do them dark colors. After you had colored in your squares you then put a pattern over each square. After that we joined all the finished art together and it created a person. The people we made were Harry Potter and Batman. Do you like doing art?

Amazing athletics

Last week Paihia School went to Bledisloe Domain to participate in the inter school athletics day. We were learning to develop more complex movement sequences and strategies in a range of situations.Once everybody had arrived there was so many people. There were lots of groups that had been sorted into year and gender. So the Year 6 girls and the Year 6 boys would be separated. First we started off at the 200 and 400 meters sprints. My friend Angela came first in the 200 meter sprints and second in the 400 meter sprints. Then we went to shot put but we had to be fast because the last group took up alot of our time. After we went to my favourite activity long jump. There was three popsicle sticks in the sand for first, second and third. Me and Angela were coming first and second but a girl from another school beat us. Next time we go I’m going to try and come in first, second or third in Long Jump. Do you like doing athletic? Bye

Illusional art

Last week in Te Ngahere we started doing some art. We were learning how to make an optical illusion. First we had to draw 6 intersecting lines. After we did that we had to draw curves going up on every second triangle. Then in the triangles that hadn’t been filled in we drew curves going down. After we did that we had to carefully go over it with vivid. Next we picked 2 colors and colored every second line in the up curves with 1 color. Then we did the same but with the down curves and a different color. Next we did that we had to do shading of the same color where we didn’t colored in. What I could do better is try harder and don’t rush because my art didn’t turn out as well as I think it would just to be ahead. Have you ever made any type of illusional art before? Here is mine

2019 Film Festival

Last week on Wednesday a couple of year 5 and 6 students including me had an opportunity to go to the Kawakawa film festival. We all gathered up after tuakana hui and we walked down to the bus. We went to the Kawakawa Primary School hall. There were two girls who went to Kawakawa School who explained what was happening and a little bit about the film festival. We got told that the film festival was going to be at least one hour long but it went by fast. The first film was one of Paihia Schools films in Te Maunga. A couple of films later there was another film from Paihia School called Life About Nerds. After we watched it most of us were saying they saved the best for last because it was the best. The last film was Boy and it was really funny. The film festival wasn’t really long. I wish I went back to the six o,clock one because I really wanted to watch the remake of boy again. We had another movie night at Paihia School on the last day without the year seven and eights. If you want to know about that stay on my blog or come onto it daily. Did you go to the film festival and what was your favourite film?

Amazing Tessellations

This week Te Ngahere have been doing tessellations, tessellation is a shape that can make a pattern without overlapping or leaving any gaps. We did this so we could learn about the math terms, these are the math terms: tessellation, translate, rotation, symmetry and reflection. I have made a DLO to help you make your own tessellations. Next time we do this I think that I could do an even better shape. Have you made a tessellation before?

Facts About Different Foods Groups

On Monday, Gina from energize came in to make sure that we are put the correct type of food in our body. She first told us what food groups there are and why they are good for us. The different types of food groups are Milk and Milk products, Vegetables and fruits, Meat and Meat alternatives Grain and Grain Food. Milk and Milk products is mostly dairy but people that are lactose intolerant can have soy milk, coconut milk, Almond milk, Rice milk and Oat milk. Gina said that for lunch you should have at least two of the food groups in your lunch box. Do you have two food groups in your lunch box?

Duffy Theater

On Friday the Duffy theater came to our school. We haven’t had a duffy show before we usually only get a person that talks about books and what they are good for. This show was meant for the year 1 up to the year 6’s but the year 7 and 8’s came anyway. The plot of the story was a girl wouldn’t hop off her game and her cousin wanted to play but they both got stuck in the game, so they had to work together to get out. I think the moral of the story is to not get distracted by playing on the internet. What I found funny was how they were acting over the top.

Ki - o - rahi

This week at Paihia School kids have being training for Ki o rahi. I like doing Ki o rahi because it is fun and easy way to do fitness. Last week we attended a tournament in Morewa. We played different schools around our community. Our coaches make a real difference to how we play. They have being giving up there time to coach us. I’m happy that they do this because it gives us time to learn new skills. What I did well is that I learnt how to play the game again. What I could do better is try to use my skills and calm down before throwing the ball. What is a way that you calm down fast?

Incredible PE

At Paihia School Te Maunga and Te Ngahere have been doing athletics. We were doing this because athletics day is coming up this term. We were learning to develop more complex movement sequences and strategies in a range of situations and demonstrate consistency and control of movement in a range of situations. There were five groups and five activities High jump, long jump, sprints, shot put and discus. My favourite activity was the sprints and relays because I really enjoy running. The hardest one for me was shot put because I found it hard getting the throw correct. So far I have learnt how to expand my legs to reach a further mark in long jump. I can’t wait for athletics day.

Awesome Movie Making

For the past few weeks in Te Ngahere we have been making movies. A few weeks ago me and my group started making a script. We first learnt about what camera angles are and how to position them. I like doing this because it lets me experience different ways to film and act. The reason we did this was because we have the Kawakawa Film Festival coming up. Two class’s in our school will send some people to go. Me and my group had our ups and downs but we manage to finish filming or script. Our film is about two girls going camping but fall out of there boat and meet a ghost. What I could do better next time is that I could work faster and not get distracted by other people around me.
